No Dairy, Ever. Not As A Diet Trend — As A Definition Of Purity.
Ghee Is An Animal Product, Even When It's A2 Or Bilona
Walk through almost any "premium" mithai brand's ingredient list and you'll find cow ghee, A2 Bilona ghee, or clarified butter presented as the mark of quality. It's a fair claim — good ghee genuinely is a craft product. But it's still dairy, made from an animal, and it quietly excludes anyone who is vegan, lactose-intolerant, or eating satvik. We think that's worth saying plainly instead of around.
What "Shudh" Actually Means Here
In Sanskrit-rooted Hindi, shudh means pure — and in the strictest, most traditional reading of a satvik diet, purity was never about ghee. It was about simple, whole, unprocessed ingredients handled with care. That's the definition we build to: dates for sweetness, nuts and seeds for richness, and nothing from an animal, anywhere in the process.
Traditional Ghee Mithai vs. Shudh & Vegan
| Attribute | Traditional Ghee Mithai | Shudh & Vegan |
|---|---|---|
| Fat source | Cow ghee / clarified butter | Cold-pressed nuts only |
| Sweetener | Often sugar syrup, sometimes jaggery + dates | Deseeded dates only, nothing added |
| Suitable for vegans | No | Yes |
| Suitable for lactose intolerance | No | Yes |
| Suitable for strict satvik diets | Depends on the kitchen | Yes, always |
| Shelf life | Often longer (preservatives common) | 3 weeks — no preservatives, made fresh to order |
Shorter shelf life is the honest trade-off of skipping both ghee and preservatives — we'd rather ship more often than compromise on either. It'll hold for three weeks, but we'd encourage you to enjoy it within two — consume it fresh for the best experience.
